Isabella & Ferdinand® Academia de Español™ is a non-profit Spanish language academy dedicated to teaching Spanish through cultural experiences in Washington, DC. We provide high-quality Spanish education through interactive, engaging, and culturally rich programs for children, teens, and adults.

Our mission is to inspire students to communicate confidently in Spanish while developing a deep appreciation for Hispanic cultures and communities.

OUR FOUNDERS

A Shared Passion for Education

Isabella & Ferdinand Academia de Español was founded by two educators who believe in the power of language to open doors, build connections, and create opportunities.

Pilar O'Leary

Co-Founder & Director

Pilar O’Leary is a Georgetown University and Georgetown Law graduate with a distinguished career spanning education, law, culture, and international affairs. Fluent in four languages, she has held leadership roles at organizations including the United Nations, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and the Smithsonian Institution, and is recognized for her work promoting Latino culture and education.

Alexandra Migoya

Co-Founder & Director

Alexandra Migoya is bringing extensive experience in law, education, and literature. A magna cum laude graduate of Cornell University and Georgetown Law, she has worked as a corporate attorney for Fortune 500 companies. An award-winning writer and former literature professor, she is passionate about culture and education, helping shape the vision and mission of the organization.
